Somali Australian Mentoring Club
Welcome to the Somali-Australian Mentoring Club
Launched by the Somali Australian Friendship Association (SAFA), this club connects young Somali-Australians with established Somali-Australian professionals for mentorship grounded in shared culture, faith, and lived experience.
For over 16 years, SAFA has celebrated the graduation of hundreds of Somali university students. Now, we’re building on that legacy — with a structured mentorship program to support our youth and empower our community.

A mentor is person who notices that you have abilities, even when you don’t recognize them.

A mentor is a person who tries to get to the truth by asking, not only by answering.

A mentor is a person who respects your difficulties, as well as your achievements.

A mentor is a person who helps you make sense out of what seems confused.

A mentor is somebody who has gone through it and helps others along.

A mentor is a believer in making steps forward, rather than reaching perfection.

A mentor is a person who shows you how to link what you wish to achieve with your daily choices.

A mentor is a person who notices and values all your achievements—even little ones

A mentor is someone who helps you realize you don’t have to face it by yourself.

A mentor is someone who helps you start your own personal transformation
Why mentorship matters
Seeing someone who looks like you succeed can be life-changing. Mentorship gives young people confidence, guidance, and practical support as they navigate education and career challenges.
In Somali and Islamic culture, passing on knowledge is a core value.
“The best of people are those who are most beneficial to others.” — Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The Somali-Australian Mentoring Club is a space where Somali-Australians can support each other — through real conversations, shared experiences, and long-term connections.
